Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 film review

David Yates has directed another fantastic instalment of the Harry Potter series. This is the final film in the series in which you see the main character Harry Potter along with Hermione and Ron constantly get in to trouble with teachers, arguing with Malfoy but in the end uniting to face the dark wizard, Voldemort.
We have followed Harry from his mistreated youth to defeating Voldemort.
In this long anticipated film, we pick up where we left off with Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) search for the last three horcruxes. This film portrays the twisting relationships in this friendship and forms new bonds between characters that you don’t realise when reading the books.

The tension rises when Ron leaves Harry and Hermione to carry on the hazardous journey through thick and thin until Harry needs saving again then Ron the hero arrives and pulls Harry to safety.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 is full to the brim of mind boggling graphics and spell binding music. In this magical mayhem comes Love, Loss and Regret amongst the return of many old friends (even if they are dead) and enemies. As Harry’s life draws to an end so do the lives of countless friends we have come to know and love. Snape’s death brings a new light to Harry’s eyes, when Snape (Alan Rickman) gives him his memories so Harry can finally learn the truth. It is during watching Snape’s memories, that Harry learns that he is the final horcrux. This causes a catastrophic amount of damage as it leads to Harry’s doom.

The filming during Harry’s final moments is phenomenal, as it cuts between the faces of Harry and Voldemort(Ralph Fiennes) until the final moment when it pauses, at the climax, on Voldemort to see him shout ‘AVADA KADAVRA’, the camera then pans out to follow this final spell hit Harry and to see him fall. Whilst the camera is cutting from face to face, the music is quickly building up tension and volume, to make this tense scene even tenser than it already is. At the climax of this scene there is a sudden stop in the music after which Voldemort casts the fatal curse.

During this chilling scene Hagrid is made to watch then carry Harry back to the castle, where Voldemort announces Harry’s passing to everyone who is gathered there, friends or foe. Neville the knight in shining armour comes in to give an inspiring speech to Harry’s followers. At the end of this there is a massive cheer and Harry leaps out of Hagrid’s arms. This then leads to the second fight scene in which we see major characters, such as Bellatrix and Fred Weasley, die.

This film follows the magical mayhem caused by Voldemort and his Death Eaters but out of this the unity of the wizarding world to follow one cause and find love out of all the death that happens.

David Yates wouldn’t have been able to have directed such a fantastic film without a star studded cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are joined by many well-known actors such as Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton, Julie Walters. The angles these actors bring to the characters wouldn’t be the same if they were played by anyone else.

This film brought £85,673,797.93 in box office worldwide and had a 4/5 star rating from many major review companies. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 broke many records (16 in total) and won 15 awards and is nominated for 9 awards at the 2012 people choice awards.
